Wakefield Skillcentre Ltd is a Career Transition Partnership (CTP) preferred supplier of resettlement training courses for service leavers.

Many armed services personnel are up-dating or extending a skill they have initially acquired before or during their military career, some are working to obtain the necessary qualifications giving recognition to a job they have been doing already, and others are taking the opportunity to go in a completely different direction.

Course critiques required by the Career Transition Partnership indicate a high level of satisfaction among Services leavers for the courses at the Skillcentre.

Members of the Forces previously stationed in various parts of the UK and across the world have enrolled for courses in Wakefield. The training provided covers a range of skills, including Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Welding, PLC systems, Refrigeration, Plumbing and Heating, equipping those taking part for a variety of occupations in manufacturing and service industries.

Our resettlement programmes have been designed to satisfy industry requirements for skilled and semi-skilled personnel and the course cohorts will normally comprise a mixture of service and industry delegates.

Our training and assessment approvals include City and Guilds, EMTA, RTITB, CIEH, NET, IOSH, NEBOSH, CITB and CORGI and our operating systems and procedures are accredited in accordance with the ISO9001:2000 quality assurance standard.

  • 16th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations inc. City & Guilds scheme 2381 exam - 1 week
  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT ) City & Guilds scheme 2377 and Inspection and Testing City & Guilds scheme 2391 examinations are also available
  • Programmable Logic Controller Systems (PLC's) - 1 week
  • Refrigeration and Safe Handling of Refrigerants inc. CITB assessment - 1 week
  • Mechanical Engineering - Fitting Skills - 4 days
  • Engineering Maintenance - Drives and Gear Systems - 4 days
  • Industrial Hydraulic Systems - 4 days
  • Industrial Pneumatic Systems - 4 days
  • Machine Shop Skills, Basic Milling and Turning - 4 days
  • Basic Plumbing Skills - 1 week
  • 3 day Intermediate Plumbing Skills
  • Domestic Natural Gas Safety, inc. CITB ACS assessment (for CORGI), 1 to 4 weeks (novice candidates and experienced gas engineers courses are available)
  • Fork Lift Truck Instructor course, with RTITB Certificate - 2 weeks
  • Forklift Counterbalance/Reach operator and refresher courses 1-5 days
  • Welder Skills Training and Coding Certification - 1 to 4 weeks (novice and experienced welder courses are available)
